This website is intended to show the Absolutely Better Joint (ABJ), a new (patented) type of insulated rail joint (IRJ). The ABJ story starts in 2021 from and idea of Prof. Bracciali, that together with Dr. Gianluca Megna was involved as a technical expert in the accident in Pioltello (Milan, Italy, 25.01.2018) were three people lost their life due to a derailment at 140 km/h caused by a broken IRJ.

ABJ arises from a thorough study of IRJs in service, introducing a number of features that solve all their problems dramatically improving reliability and SAFETY.

The ABJ has been presented in several trade fairs and conferences. You can find below some of the technical publications available.

Who we are

AB Consulting is the consulting company that Andrea Bracciali (Professor of Machine Design at the University of Florence, Italy) established in 1994. The company is active on industrial consulting in the sectors of machinery, vehicles, testing and, in general, whatever orbits around mechanics.

AB Consulting has granted several patents. One of these is the ABJ, whose inventor is Prof. Bracciali, granted in 2024.
