ABJ - Absolutely Better Joint

FULL SCALE TESTING AT TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITÄT MÜNCHEN (TUM)

Selecting the harshest tests

While the new European standard EN 16843:2024 ("Railway applications - Infrastructure - Mechanical requirements for joints in running rails") will be adopted in Europe in the next years, we decided to test the ABJ also in more demanding conditions. Two standards were selected:

- RFI TCAR SF AR 07 008 A ("Technical Specification for supply of IRJ")

- TCDD ("İZOLELİ RAY CONTASI (IRC) TEKNİK ŞARTNAMESİ" - " INSULATED RAIL SEAL (IRC) TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION"

Approval tests: passed!

The TUM laboratory issued on 20 September 2024 the report about the tests according to the European Standard EN 16843:2024.

ALL THE TESTS WERE PASSED... see the details below in this page.

Pull-apart and 4-points bending fatigue testing

The following pull-apart tests were passed:

1 - EN 16843:2024 =1450 kN

2 - RFI TCAR SF AR 07 008 A = 1500 kN

3 - TCDD = 2000 kN

The following bending fatigue tests tests were passed:

1. EN 16843:2024  = 3 million cycles, max 26.5 kNm

2. RFI TCAR SF AR 07 008 A = 2 million cycles, max 71.25 kNm

3. TCDD = 5 million load cycles, max 50 kNm
